Our Governing Board

School governors help the Head teacher to lead the school. The Head teacher is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the school whereas the governors set the strategic direction of the school. Our board is made up of 14 members including elected parents, staff the Head teacher, co-opted governors and a local authority governor.

The Governing Board (GB) adopted a new Committee structure at the beginning of the autumn term 2020 and created a Curriculum and Standards Committee to monitor and review progress with regards to school development and a Resources Committee covering key areas such as school finances, staffing, premises, health and safety related matters. The terms of reference that detail the remit of the Committees are updated annually in the autumn term and a copy is available upon request.

Governors are structured as “monitoring pairs” who take their challenge and support role for a key area of school organisation, improvement or statutory compliance oversight. Governors visit the school at least once a term to undertake their role, produce a report and make recommendations to the board for future actions.
Our governors are active, informed and committed to the ethos and values of our school.
