Lateral Flow Testing

Lateral Flow Tests for parents/households/support bubble of primary school children

WHAT IS LATERAL FLOW TESTING?

Lateral Flow Testing is a test that can be taken in your own HOME twice a week to check for covid-19. It is particularly helpful if you are asymptomatic (not showing any signs of Covid-19).  The hope is that if many people as possible take the Lateral Flow Tests at home, the rate of transmission of the virus will be greatly reduced.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE LATERAL FLOW TESTS?

Lateral Flow Testing is NOT COMPULSARY. The tests are optional but to reduce the transmission rate, it is recommended that every family takes advantage of the free testing.

CAN I USE THE TESTS ON MY CHILDREN IF THEY SHOW SIGNS OF COVID?

The test kits are for ADULTS only and NOT to be used on children under 18 years old. If your child shows signs of covid-19, please call 119 and seek further advice. You may need to book a PCR covid test for them.

HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO CARRY OUT THE LATERAL FLOW TESTS?

Testing must be carried out TWICE a week (Sunday and Wednesday is recommended)

WHAT DO I DO AFTER I GET THE TEST RESULT?

You must report your test result (even if it is a NEGATIVE result). You can do this:

Online using this link: : https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

OR

Call 119

WHAT IF I GET A POSITIVE TEST RESULT?

If your test result is POSITIVE, then you MUST book a PCR Covid test by calling 119. The rest of your household (including your children) MUST Self-Isolate until you receive the results of your PCR Test and then follow TEST and TRACE instructions depending on the result of your test.

WHERE CAN I GET THE LATERAL FLOW TEST KITS?

You may collect Test Kits (enough for all the adults in your household) from the following collection centres which are open from 1.00pm-8.00pm daily. It is not necessary to book to collect the test kits. Each kit contains 7 tests which is enough for ONE adult for just over 3 weeks of testing.
